God's Character

THE WORD OF GOD WHICH LIVES AND ABIDES FOREVER.
                  ( 1 PETER 1:23 *NKJV )
Today we will take a look at the Book of PROVERBS,
the Book that contains the wisdom of King Solomon.  For
this Book points out aspects of God's Character.  After all,
knowing God better helps us on the way to wisdom, for
God is the source of all wisdom!

God is aware of all that happens.  "THE EYES OF THE LORD
ARE IN EVERY PLACE, KEEPING WATCH ON THE EVIL AND
  THE GOOD."  ( PROVERBS 15:3 *NKJV )

He knows the hearts of all people.  "EVERY WAY OF MAN IS
RIGHT IN HIS OWN EYES; BUT THE LORD WEIGHS THE HEARTS."  ( PROVERBS 21:2 )

God controls all things.  "THE LOT IS CAST INTO THE LAP,
BUT ITS EVERY DECISION IS FROM THE LORD." ( PROVERBS 15:33 )

Our Heavenly Father is a place of safety!  "THE NAME OF THE
LORD IS A STRONG TOWER; THE RIGHTEOUS RUN TO IT
  AND ARE SAFE."   ( PROVERBS 18:10 )

HE rescues good people from danger.  "THE RIGHTEOUS IS
DELIVERED FROM TROUBLE, AND IT COMES TO THE
  WICKED INSTEAD."   ( PROVERBS 11:8 )

God delights in our prayers!  "THE SACRIFICE OF THE
WICKED IS AN ABOMINATION TO THE LORD, BUT THE
PRAYER OF THE UPRIGHT IS HIS DELIGHT." ( PROVERBS 15:8 )

God loves those who obey Him.  "THE WAY OF THE WICKED
IS AN ABOMINATION TO THE LORD, BUT HE LOVES HIM
  WHO FOLLOWS RIGHTEOUSNESS."   ( PROVERBS 15:9 )

Our Heavenly Father cares for the poor and needy.  "DO NOT
ROB THE POOR BECAUSE HE IS POOR, NOR OPPRESS
THE AFFLICTED AT THE GATE; FOR THE LORD WILL
PLEAD THEIR CASE, AND PLUNDER THE SOUL OF THOSE
  WHO PLUNDER THEM."   ( PROVERBS 22:22-23 )

God purifies our hearts.  "THE REFINING POT IS FOR SILVER
AND THE FURNACE IS FOR GOLD, BUT THE LORD TESTS
  THE HEARTS."   ( PROVERBS 17:3 )

God hates evil!  "ONE WHO TURNS AWAY HIS EAR FROM
HEARING THE LAW, EVEN HIS PRAYER IS AN
  ABOMINATION."   ( PROVERBS 28:9 )

There you have a wee bit of wisdom from the Book of
PROVERBS.  Why not read the rest of this wonderful Book
this week, for I know you will enjoy it!   Amen.
